Get the Look | White and Charcoal Bedroom

A few weeks ago, I found this bedroom by Haskell Harris in HGTV's July/August issue and I was instantly smitten! You probably know that I love Schumacher's Zimba fabric, (see my DIY draperies here) so that pillow grabbed me right away, but the brightness and pattern mixing really pulled me in!

I found a few products that will give a similar look. Even though there are several patterns going on, they work well together because they are all black and white and have a small scale, contrasting the large scale Zimba pillow.

Most bedding is medium to large scale, so it was tricky to find smaller scale pieces. Let me know if you have any suggestions too!

Layering a patterned scarf on a simple white headboard is the perfect way to change up your bedding with practically no effort!

Mix two stripes by choosing a thin vertical for the Euro sham and a wider horizontal for the coverlet/duvet. Then mix in a smaller ikat dot sham and circular bedding!

Finally, mixing in natural tones with an antique bamboo side table and linen lamp shade help give the room a collected look, adding warmth and texture.

I'm currently working on a design plan for a local client (met through my furniture sale!), and I think this is the perfect jumping off point for the bedroom. Her husband doesn't like anything too girly and she loves white, with punches of color + contrast, mixed with natural wood.

p.s. I took photos of the dyed Eames chair yesterday, I'm waiting 72 hours (as recommended on the bottle) to test the color fastness. (fingers crossed that it doesn't dye our clothes!)  I think it's going to work!! Stay tuned!

Get the Look | Bright and Airy Modern Foyer

For today's get the look, I'm featuring a bright and airy foyer with just the right amount of pattern and whimsy to keep it fun and current! I would love to have this amount of light in my foyer! Hello windows!

1. If you've read my blog for a few months, you probably know how obsessed I'm with this folded pendant, I even DIYed my own version!

2. This wallpaper is so good! Maybe even stenciled instead? I love how it is just above the high wainscoting so that if you get bored it is less to switch out. Though harder to apply to the ceiling, it really adds so much more impact!

3. I decided to include this dining settee because it isn't too deep - perfect for a narrower hallway! It's not leather, but the price is great!

4. Upholster a thrift store bench with a fun new fabric like this one from Premier Prints, I also love this one from Waverly! This may be the exact bench from the image (it may scare Annabelle (my puppy) though ...)

5. A blue glass lamp gives this space the perfect pop of color! I love how it balances the blue abstract painting on the other side.

6. A classic parson's table brings in classic lines to balance the bench.

I love love love this space! Having a settee and a console table in a foyer (as shown in the picture), probably isn't an option for a lot of homes. Maybe our next place will have the space :) We can always dream, right?

Get the Look

For today's get the look, I'm using one of my recent favorite bedroom pins. I'm typically not a huge fan of purple in adult spaces because it can look youthful easily. However, this room by Gary Riggs Home works because the purple is the perfect shade and mixed with bold yellows and patterns and an eclectic mix of furniture/accessories are perfection! I want move right in!

I've put together a list of how to get a similar look (either exact or close to sources) of the furniture and accessories in this space. See below the images for the sources!

I think that my next bed must include an upholstered frame. I love how tailored it looks! The rug is beyond amazing too! I'm crazy about the subtle pattern and sheen.

What about you? Are you ready to move in too? :)

I'll be back soon with project updates!!

Get the Look

Hi! I hope that you had a great weekend! We didn't get too much done on projects, the weather was SO nice that we spent a good bit of time outside!

--

While I was browsing my Pinterest boards, I noticed that the fabric from one of my most recent pins looked identical to a few fabrics that I just saw on fabric.com

I'm pretty sure that these are the exact fabrics from the links below. I love the brightness of the room, but the contrast of the black and the bright colors keep it fun! I also love the old painted wood floors mixed with the modern accessories.

billow coral, parquet black, swell orchid, parquet tangerine

Here are a few items that are similar to the ones in the space. Of course a lot of these items could be DIYed too. I love the idea of making a simple slip cover with contrasting trim for old storage cubes! Adding pom pom trim the the bottom of an upholstered/slipcovered footboard would be a great way to add a little texture!

What about you? Did you get any projects done this weekend? I'm hoping to make up some time and get a few projects done this week!
